Beesputty is a polymer clay from professionals for professionals - made in Germany. This oven hardening modelling compound with high quality fillers was developed by a model maker who specialized in figures and combines a long processing time (pot life) with optimal modelling attributes. Beesputty can be used for every kind of modelling work, from figures to highly detailed magical beings! It is particularly great for making small-scale, intricate models.
As might be guessed from the product´s name, working with Beesputty can be similar to working with natural beeswax. Kneading this clay compound brings its excellent plasticity to the fore. Its extreme suppleness is supplemented by a somewhat increased stickiness that makes it easier to attach it to an armature material - for example, aluminium wire - or onto sculptures that have already been modelled. Despite its fine, wax-like formability, Beesputty nonetheless exhibits a high degree of stability. The stability of the material allows particularly precise and intricate surface structures to be created. The clay´s ablility to capture a richness of detail really comes to light in the case of small-scale sculptures and figures. Because the Beesputty colours are intermixable, all your realistic details can be easily enhanced by nuanced colours.
When your work on this modelling material has been completed, it can be baked in an oven at maximum 115°C for 30 minutes. In order to avoid cracking caused by tension in the material, your model should be left in the oven - door closed - until it has cooled down to room temperature. After it has completely cooled it can be reworked, filed, carved or sanded to a rough finish. Beesputty is a material that can be baked a number of times, a feature that is very useful when wanting to supplement or enhance your model or if you are making a large model by breaking it down to smaller pieces and putting them together later. Once hardened, the surface can be polished to a wax-like high gloss by using a little Vaseline, milking grease or a smooth brush or cloth. Acrylic paint will provide the desired colour accents.
The Beesputty TrippleFirm is a bit less sticky and a bit firmer than the Beesputty Firm and Beesputty DoubleFirm. It should be used in warm conditions such as during summer or under strong lighting. The TrippleFirm series has as its target group prototype model makers and professional miniature puppet artists. The special stabilizer provides a high degree of plasticitiy and a very precise workability.
