- Description
The undrilled cork ball is a versatile natural product that is suitable for numerous creative and functional applications. Cork balls are often used in model making as model trees, as decorative objects, for craft projects or as floats (e.g. for key rings). Thanks to their lightness and stability, they are ideal for projects where a natural and environmentally friendly material is desired.
You can easily cut undrilled cork balls with a sharp knife or a fine-toothed saw to shape or size them as required. Wood glue or an all-purpose glue is suitable for joining cork balls.
The cork from which the balls are made usually comes from Portugal from the bark of the cork oak, which is peeled in sustainable processes without damaging the tree. This process can be repeated every 9 to 12 years, making cork an environmentally friendly material. Cork is poorly compostable, even though it is a natural material. Cork is water-repellent and poorly flammable. The best way to dispose of cork balls is via special cork recycling programs, which are also offered for bottle corks and in which some beverage retailers or drugstores participate.
