Nib holder cherry wood
Japanese cherry wood is used to make this nib holder. The cherry wood is then dyed black with ink and varnished using the traditional Fuki-Urushi technique ("wiped Urushi"). Both the dyeing and the lacquering highlight the grain, while the matt lacquer protects the beautiful wood at the end. However, in order to enjoy your penholder for as long as possible, you should not immerse it in water or expose it to large temperature changes, extreme heat or direct sunlight. Ink stains on the nib holder can be wiped off with a soft cloth.

When changing the nib, please pull carefully on the nib and turn it slightly at the same time. This will prevent the holder from coming loose from the nib holder. You will like the pleasant sound this makes.

Aluminum nib holder
Solid aluminum forms the nib holder, which weighs more than three times as much as the wooden nib holder. The two do not differ in terms of dimensions or shape. However, the materiality is fundamentally different. Aluminum feels much colder than wood. From our point of view, it is therefore a significant difference to use aluminum or cherry wood.

The nib holder is the same for both nib holders. And even with the aluminum nib holder, you can wipe off stains on the holder with a soft cloth. In general, however, the aluminum is unproblematic when it comes into contact with water. If you want to rinse the nib holder, make sure to shake it out well in a downward motion after rinsing so that the water is removed as far as possible before inserting a nib.
