The translucent latex film is made from natural rubber and is characterized by its high elasticity. You can use it in a number of areas, such as for costumes, decorations and creative projects where flexible and transparent materials are required. Due to its translucency, you can also use it for projects in which light effects play a role.
Latex film can be cut with some scissors or a cutter knife, but is best cut with a roll cutter. Rubber glue or vulcanization (as with bicycle tube patches) are recommended for bonding. Cyanoacrylate glue (superglue) bonds quite well, Pattex bonds moderately well. Before gluing, the latex must always be cleaned with warm water, as no adhesive will adhere to the silicone coating. Please do not use any cleaning agents on latex. Latex should also not come into contact with copper or copper alloys, oils and greases or be exposed to UV light.
You can also sew the latex film with a sewing machine, but you should place tissue paper between the latex and the presser foot so that the foot does not stop on the material. Carefully tear off the paper afterwards. The seam should also be glued between the two layers of latex, otherwise the thin rubber will tear easily at this point.
Please note that latex can cause allergies. If you are sensitive to latex, you should be careful when handling the foil or consider alternative materials. Disposal: Latex film is biodegradable and can be disposed of with household waste.
