With an acrylic marker, you apply a layer of color to the surface—just like when painting—and thus cover it. An acrylic marker is therefore “highly opaque.” As a result, the colors—almost regardless of the surface you apply them to—are always equally vibrant and intense. With the Molotow One4all Acrylic Twin marker, you can not only choose from 48 water-based colors, but you can also mix the colors together. The only colors you should avoid mixing are the metallic and neon shades—their special effects are lost when mixed.
In addition to mixing the colors with one another, you can take advantage of a special feature of Molotow paints: They can be diluted not only with water but also with acetone. Molotow uses the catchy, modern term “hybrid marker” to describe this. The advantage of this is that you start with a largely odorless, solvent-free acrylic marker, to which you can add acetone as needed—this improves adhesion on surfaces such as leather or smooth plastic.
In general, you can use the One4all on many smooth or rough surfaces: metal, glass, most plastics, wood, textiles, and stone, as well as paper, cardstock, and cardboard. As always, it becomes more difficult with some nonpolar plastics like PE and PP; it’s impossible to use on silicone or greasy surfaces.
As with most acrylic markers, the same applies here: Shake well before use, then activate the ink flow by pressing down on the spring-loaded tip (“pumping” it). In our experience, the markers do not tend to dry out prematurely; nevertheless, here are two measures to prevent drying out and for use in an emergency: First, moistening the tip with water as a preventive measure before prolonged periods of non-use helps; second, you can try treating dried-out tips with a small amount of acetone to hopefully make them soft and usable again.
