Anyone who has had a German driver’s license for a long time knows this paper very well because the old grey driver’s license versions were printed on Neobond. It is no mystery why this very tear and fold resistant paper was chosen in the pre-digital age for use in making an official document which had to last for a long time because this material has great dimensional stability in the face of changes of moisture conditions and is light, aging and chemical resistant as well as waterproof, food-safe and temperature resistant up to 100 °C (for a short time up to 200 °C).

Neobond is produced from a mixture of selected pulp and synthetic fibres (including, among others, polyamide, polyester, viscose). No environmentally hazardous materials are used in the manufacture of this plasticizer-free paper. In addition to its use for identification papers and official documents, Neobond can also be found being used in the production of admission tickets, maps, registers, suitcase tags, etc. In our opinion, it can also be a good basis material for making special books, small bags and other accessories.

For such uses, it can be sewn and glued (e.g. with Pattex), painted, perforated, riveted, and stamped. It can also be written on with most writing utensils and printed by means of the conventional printing processes. The following are particularly good for writing on this paper: Edding Paint Marker, Rollerball, Gel Rollerball.

The manufacturer provides no information concerning office printers but we did try out a laser printer on Neobond and had good results.
