E2 Table frame - known as Eiermann frame

Anyone who deals with the topic of office tables will find the E2 table frame hard to get past. Even after many years we are still enthusiastic about the design: four legs + one connection. Reduction implemented in slender steel tubes, pure supporting structure, the essence of a table frame.

Choose the right E2 table frame

The side parts of the E2 table frame

The table top rests on the side parts. They are orthogonally welded together from the table legs and the cross struts, which connect the legs in pairs, and result in a "H with two cross lines" so to speak. The side panels of the E2 table frame are available in six sizes. When selecting the side sections, it is important to determine here whether the E2 table frame has a central or a staggered cross strut. The holes for connecting the side parts and cross struts are not provided in each side part for both variants. Therefore, if you later wish to move the cross struts, for example, you would have to get other side parts. Or put differently: Once you have made up your mind, your E2 table frame will remain one with a cross either in the middle or offset. We recommend for example for a work table placed on the wall offset and for a table freely placed in the room used from both sides central cross struts.

The cross struts of the E2 table frame

The diagonally crossing connecting struts are the characteristic feature of the E2 table frame. They connect the side parts with each other and hold them in their upright position. As they are mounted diagonally, they prevent the parallel tilting of the side parts even without a rigid connection to the side parts (detachable screw connections). In principle, this is the same as with many shelves, where a metal cross on the back often brings stability to the construction. In the E2 table frame, the bracing cross is the defining element that makes the design easily recognisable. When buying an E2 table frame, you have to decide whether the side panels should be positioned in the middle or staggered on the side panels. However, the cross struts for both variants are the same. You also have to make a selection for the cross struts: They are available for the E2 table frame in two lengths for different table sizes.

      Configure your E2 table -
or just your E2 table frame

In our configurator you can put together an E2 table according to your wishes and immediately see a 3D representation of the table. You can specify the dimensions, choose from surfaces and add accessories. Each change is reflected in the configuration in real time and the complete price for your individual E2 table is displayed immediately.

If you only want to order the E2 table frame without table top, you can do this directly via the configurator. Please choose the button "none" under the selection "top". You can also change the size of the E2 table frame using the first item "Dimensions". The then adjusted dimensions are so to speak "virtual" table top dimensions. In the configuration the tabletop is shown transparent.

At the top of the configurator you first have the option "Show only quickly available variants". Quickly deliverable variants are pre-configured table configurations defined by the tabletop dimensions. The table top can also be omitted with this default setting as shown above. We have all the quickly available variants permanently in stock. Therefore we can deliver them immediately after placing an order. In the case of the variants that can be delivered quickly, the cross struts are always offset in the table frame. The desire for centrally seated cross struts automatically leads to somewhat longer delivery times.

Grows with it: The E2 children's table frame

The E2 children's table frame is simply a slightly smaller dimensioned E2 table frame. But at no point does it look like a miniature. It is only adapted in size to the child's needs. Thanks to the height adjusters it can also be a lifelong companion, because the table height can be adjusted from the childlike regions up to adult level. And if only a laptop and a hot drink need to fit on it, the other two dimensions are also sufficiently large. Well: A magazine also fits on top of that ...

FAQ - Questions about the E2 table frame

      History of the E2 Table

Where did the design of the E2 table come from and who invented it? What is an egg man's table? And why are there different suppliers today? Here we answer all questions about the history of the E2 table. It's all about the development of the design, the producer of the table frames and the trademark rights to the term Eiermann. We'll also tell you how and when Modulor got involved with the E2 table.

Part 3 of the Eiermann Story:
      The collaboration Wieland - Modulor

When Modulor first asked the Adam Wieland metal workshop for table frames, the workshop still corresponded to the image of a typical metal workshop as one imagines it to be: An estimated 50 m² room with locksmith tools and equipment, in which manual work is carried out. In addition, there was a storage area of about 15 m², for which a garage was misused. We were the ones with the shop where a bakery had previously been housed and which, due to its growth, grew into the entire Old Berlin apartment building including the backyard and also did not stop at fire walls and ceilings. So we agreed in a friendly way on the delivery and purchase conditions for table frames and began a partnership path, which we still follow together today. Meanwhile, we mutually benefit from our experience and our exchange and jointly develop, for example, shipping packaging and accessories.

Today, the E2 table frame is a success story for both partners. And both partners have continued to develop to this day: Adam Wieland GmbH, now managed by its son Peter Wieland, has a modern production facility where work can be carried out both qualitatively and quantitatively in such a way that all market requirements can be met. And Modulor GmbH with a large retail shop, a convenient web shop and modern logistics. What has remained is the friendly partnership, which is still lived in personal cooperation.
